Information About Black Cohosh root:
Common Uses: Antispasmodic for menstrual and gastrointestinal (GI tract) cramping. Regulates labor contractions. Mild sedative, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, cough suppressant, emmenogogue (stimulates menstruation). Relieves menopausal symptoms. Contraindications: Use during third trimester of pregnancy only.
Suggested Uses: 20 to 40 drops in water or juice three to four times daily or as recommended by your health practitioner.
Traditional Uses: Dysmenorrhea, indigestion, arthritis, rheumatism, sore throat, snakebite, insect repellent.
Herbal Anecdote: The Cherokee and Iroquois used this root for snakebites.
