Information About Bloodroot:
Common Uses: Bloodroot has antibacterial, antiviral, antiinflammatory, and expectoranting properties. It prevents dental plaque formation and can be used to treat gingivitis and receding gums. It has also been used in the treatment of HIV as well as used topically for skin infections, skin tumors, moles and warts.
Suggested Uses: 10 to 20 drops in water or juice two to three times daily or as recommended by your health practitioner.
Traditional Uses: Pulmonary consumption, nervous irritation, slowing a fast pulse, heart disease, heart palpitations, asthma, bronchitis, croup, dyspepsia. Used topically to treat fungal infections, ringworm, skin cancer.
Herbal Anecdote: Named for the red-orange sap the rhizome yields, used by Native Americans as body paint and insect repellent, as well as for treating skin cancer.
