Information About Blue Cohosh root:
Common Uses: As a smooth muscle antispasmodic and uterine tonic, Blue Cohosh is effective in controlling menstrual cramping and will strengthen and regulate unproductive labor contractions. Use in last trimester and postpartum (under guidance of an herbalist). May also be used as an emmenagogue (promotes menstruation) or to control GI tract cramping.Contraindications: Abortifacient, not for use in first trimester of pregnancy. Not for anyone with high blood pressure.
Suggested Uses: 40 to 60 drops in water or juice three to four times daily or as recommended by your health practitioner.
Traditional Uses: Child birth, menstrual and gastrointestinal cramping, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, parasites, arthritis, rheumatism, laxative.
Herbal Anecdote: Unrelated to Black Cohosh.
