Common Uses: Corn silk is a soothing diuretic and antiseptic used for urinary tract complaints such as cystitis, urethritis and prostatitis.
Suggested Uses: 40 to 60 drops in water or juice three to four times daily or as recommended by your health practitioner.
Traditional Uses: Nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting), demulcent, antiinflammatory.
Herbal Anecdote: Corn Silk is the silky tassel inside the corn husk - not often considered a food, but it is highly regarded by herbalists as a valuable support for the urinary system. Corn is indigenous to Central America, but is now widely cultivated elsewhere. The genus name Zea means "cause of life", and the species name "mays" means "mother"'.
