Information About Myrrh gum:
Common Uses: Myrrh has been used to improve digestion and boost the immune system. It has anti-microbial, astringent (tightens tissue) and anti-inflammatory properties and is used in the treatment and/or prevention of gingivitis, tonsillitis, thrush, mouth ulcers and to promote wound healing. Myrrh is also an expectorant.
Suggested Uses: 30 to 50 drops in water or juice two to three times daily or as recommended by your health practitioner. May also be used as a mouthwash.
Traditional Uses: Used for ages in perfumes and incense, it has also been used as holy oil by the Jews and by ancient Egyptians for embalming and fumigations. Its astringent, healing properties have been used traditionally to heal mucous membranes, mouth ulcers, spongy gums, and ulcerated throat.
Herbal Anecdote: Myrrh has been used since antiquity to inspire prayer and meditation, and to fortify and revitalize the spirit.
