Information About Skullcap herb:
Common Uses: Skullcap is used as a sedative, anti-convulsant and nervous system relaxant. Used for insomnia due to mental stress or overactivity or for irritability or fear. Skullcap is often used in clinics to aid in the withdrawal from drugs or alcohol due to its ability to increase endogenous endorphins.
Suggested Uses: 30 to 50 drops in water or juice three to four times daily or as recommended by your health practitioner.
Traditional Uses: Skullcap is used in the treatment of a wide range of nervous conditions including epilepsy, insomnia, hysteria, anxiety, delerium tremens, and withdrawal from barbiturates and tranquilisers.
Herbal Anecdote: Skullcap has been used traditionally to treat rabies, giving it the common names Mad-Dog Weed or Mad Weed. Skullcap may have acquired the reputation as a treatment for lockjaw from its tranquilizing effect on the central nervous system.
