Information About Yerba Santa leaf:
Common Uses: Yerba Santa is an expectorant, bronchial dilator, mucous regulator, decongestant for allergies, asthma and bronchitis and is also a urinary disinfectant.
Suggested Uses: 30 to 50 drops in water or juice three to four times daily or as recommended by your health practitioner.
Traditional Uses: Native Americans chewed or boiled the leaves into a tea used as an expectorant in the treatment of colds, coughs, asthma, tuberculosis and other respiratory ailments. It was used topically as a poultice or tea to treat bruises and rheumatic pain.
Herbal Anecdote: The name Yerba Santa, meaning “herb of the saints”, or “holy herb” was given to this plant by Spanish priests after learning of its extraordinary healing properties from the native southwestern people.
