Chaparro Amargosa herb - Latin Name: (Castela emory)

Herbal Anecdote: This intricately branched, spiny shrub or small tree has no leaves -- just thick, rigid, sharp branches, which perform photosynthesis. This is the reason for its nickname, Crucifixion Thorn. It is bluish gray-green in color and can grow up to 10 feet tall.

Traditional Uses: Parasites, antimicrobial, traveler’s diarrhea, candida.
